A Day @ Sea is opportunity…

Join me in exploring the extraordinary

Today is April 20. We left the island of Madeira yesterday at 2:30pm. Today we spend the day at sea as we transit to Lisbon, Portugal.

I started my day in the gym at 7:30am, I’ve found dumb bells, a treadmill, some bands and a mat to create some workouts so far. I am starting to like the Technogym equipment especially the girls who do some running coaching on the treadmills. I must say the treadmill is especially challenging when the sea swells are big….a flat run turns into an uphill, downhill, sideways run where sometimes I have to grab the side so I don’t run right off the side. I also took today’s opportunity at sea to get in my 10,000 walking steps on the upper deck track. I thought I would be up there alone in the wind and listen to my book. The wind was crazy, one direction a stiff headwind that made you work hard to just keep moving and downwind a crazy tailwind that had me trying not to run off the edge of the ship (just kidding….the track isn’t that close to the edge.). The track is small, 12 laps = 1 mile - you do the math… but I did a lot of laps and luckily there were a couple of other ladies doing the same thing so I got to have a couple of nice chats and hear some stories from Margarita and Heidi. Stories also make the laps go quicker.

The other highlight of this day at Sea was listening, watching and tasting Chocolate Ganache from Mama Cacao, Juliet Davey. Look up her story here. She is an amazing lady and we are lucky to have her on the ship with us. You can also follow her on Instagram here - @mamacacaochocolate

There are so many interesting and friendly people on this ship. All with a thirst for adventure and travel. Their stories of how travel has changed their lives is a common theme. I’ll get permission to post some of them here to share with you. The World Navigator and it’s sister ships on Atlas Ocean Voyages seems to provide some unique opportunities to integrate into the culture - I have heard about it everyday. These are the stories I want to share.
